Description: The “Urban and Regional Studies” research division encompasses work that aims to understand and analyze territories, production processes, dynamics and transformations of urban and regional spaces and territories. The research division is directed at understanding production processes in their various dimensions and scales: urbanization as a materiality, forms of city growth, changes in ways of life and the constitution of urban society and metropolitan regions. The area aims to study urban and regional changes arising from economic dynamics, sociocultural, population and political transformations and their impact on everyday urban life, as well as conflicts, fragmentation and socio-environmental risks.
Urban studies are a central aspect of this research division.
